A Love Letter to ATX.

 ^^^when someone asks if you want a crown made out of balloons, you don't say no

Austin, Texas, oh how I love you. This town has been so good to me in the almost two years that I've lived here. I couldn't have asked for a better city to live in while attending college. It's just close enough to home yet far away enough (and different enough) to feel like I'm in a totally different state.

Wedged nice and neat in the middle of Hill Country, Austin has so much offer, from its music to its food to an abundant number of outdoor activities, it has it all. It is home to some delicious BBQ, world-class music festivals and cowboy boots are necessary dresswear. This progressive town has just enough Texas in it for me.

Admittedly, I've only enjoyed about 1/10th of what this city has to offer. If I was a real Austinite, I'd be at the park and a different music venue multiple times a week (and unfortunately, I'm not). But what I have got to enjoy, I've loved (except for the traffic, I hate the traffic).

The reason for my little love spill about Austin is because of the Oasis. The Oasis on Lake Travis is a restaurant nestled on the side of a hill overlooking, you guessed it, Lake Travis. And it's beautiful. As an end of the school year celebration, Hayden and I went to Oasis this past weekend to relax, enjoy some delicious food and watch the most beautiful Texas sunset.

Which we did, happily. We were seated at a table overlooking the lake (a front row seat to the sunset) with live music playing behind us. The waiters didn't rush us at all, in fact, we eventually had to ask them take our order.

We sat there for two hours, talking, enjoying the view, and listening to music. It was so nice. The stress from reality was forgotten for a few hours and I was reminded why I love Austin so much. The food, the music and, most importantly, the people. It's what makes this place special.

My time in Austin in slowly but surely running out. I'm spending my summer in Houston and then I'll only have one short semester left in this town. I'll be sad to leave but I'm so thankful I got to spend as long as I did in this place.
